ترجمة قصيدة "المساء" لإيليا أبو ماضي

السحبُ تركضُ في الفضاءِ الرّحبِ ركضَ الخائفينْو

1) The clouds are running in the open wide space running just like fearful.

الشمسُ تبدو خلفها صفراءَ عاصبةَ الجبينْ

2) The sun appears behind them while yellowiest of fore-head.

والبحرُ ساجٍ صامتٌ فيه خشوعُ الزاهدينْ

3) The ocean is calm and silent where in submissiveness of the pious people.

لكنّما عيناكِ باهتتان في الأفقِ البعيدْ

4) But your eyes are charmed in the far off horizon.

سلمى... بماذا تفكّرينْ ؟

5) O Salma what are you thinking off ?

سلمى... بماذا تحلمينْ ؟

6) O Salma what are you thinking off ?

أرأيتِ أحلامَ الطفولةِ تختفي خلفَ التّخومْ ؟

7) Did you see the dreams of childhood are hidden behind the stars ?

أم أبصرتْ عيناك أشباحَ الكهولةِ في الغيومْ ؟

8) Or your eyes has been seen the shade of mature age in the clouds.

أم خفتِ أن يأتيَ الدّجى الجاني و لا تأتي النجومْ ؟

9) Are you afraid that the covering darkness will come and stars will not glitter ?

أنا لا أرى ما تلمحينَ من المشاهدِ إنّما

10) I don't find what are you gazing in the sight.

أظلالها في ناظريكِ

11) Its shadows indeed are in your eyes.

تنمُّ، يا سلمى، عليكِ

12) O Salma you must sleep!

إنّي أراكِ كسائحٍ في القفرِ ضلّ عن الطّريقْ

13) I have seen you like a traveler who has lost his way in the desert.

يرجو صديقاً في الفـلاة، وأين في القفرِ الصديقْ

14) He hopes for a friend but where is the friend in the desert.

يهوى البروقَ وضوءها، و يخافُ تخدعهُ البروقْ

15) Lighting and its shine falls down but he afraid that the lighting will mislead his way.

بل أنتِ أعظمُ حيرةٍ من فارسٍ تحت القتامْ

16) Rather you are a perplexity then the horse man is in darkness.

لا يستطيعُ الانتصارْ

17) Victory is not possible.

و لا يُطيقُ الانكسارْ

18) And defeat is not bearable.

هذي الهواجسُ لم تكن مرسومةً في مُقلتيكِ

19) This suspicion was not painted in your eyeball.

فلقد رأيتكِ في الضّحى و رأيتهُ في وجنتيكِ

20) So I have seen you at fore noon and I have seen him in your two gardens.

لكنْ وجدتكِ في المساء وضعتِ رأسكِ في يديكِ

21) But I found you at evening and head put in your hand.

و جلستِ في عينيك ألغازٌ، و في النّفس اكتئابْ

22) The attacker has sat in your eyes and there is sorrow in your heart.

مثل اكتئاب العاشقينْ

23) like the sorrow of two beloved.

سلمى... بماذا تفكّرينْ ؟

24) Salma, what about you are thinking off ?

بالأرضِ كيف هوَتْ عروشُ النّورِ عن هضباتها ؟

25) How does the light of throne falls from the hill ?

أم بالمروجِ الخضرِ سادَ الصّمتُ في جنباتها ؟

26) Or the Greenfield maintains silence in the bush.

أم بالعصافيرِ التي تعدو إلى و كناتها ؟

27) Or the sparrows are flying to their nest.

أم بالمسا ؟ إنّ المسا يُخفي المدائنَ كالقرى

28) Or the evening, the evening conceals the cities like the villages.

و الكوخَ كالقصرِ المكينْ

29) And the hut is like solid palace.

و الشّوكُ مثل الياسمينْ

30) And the thrones like a jasmine flower.

لا فرقَ عند اللّيل بين النهرِ و المستنقعْ

31) There is no difference between the river and the marsh at night.

يُخفي ابتساماتِ الطروبِ كأدمعِ المتوجّعْ

32) Smile off happy hides like fear pain.

إنّ الجمالَ يغيبُ مثل القبحِ تحتَ البّرقعْ

33) The beauty hides the ugliness as under the veiling.

لكنْ لماذا تجزعينَ على النهارِ و للدّجى

34) But why do you become sad on the day and in darkness?

أحلامهُ و رغائبهْ

35) For his dreams and for appetite.

و سماؤهُ و كواكبهْ ؟

36) And for his sky and for his stars.

إن كان قد ستر البلادَ سهولها ووعورها

37) If it becomes- the cities hide its easiness and difficulty.

لم يسلبِ الزهرَ الأريج و لا المياه خريرها

38) Neither flower takes away its scent, nor does water take away its pureness.

كلّا، و لا منعَ النّسائمَ في الفضاءِ مسيرها

39) Never, the breezes didn't prevention it's journey in the space.

ما زالَ في الورقِ الحفيفُ و في الصّبا أنفاسها

40) It has not vanished what is in paper and east wind has its sprit.

و العندليب صداحهُ

41) And nightingale is singing.

لا ظفره و جناحهُ

42) And it has no nail and no wings.

فاصغي إلى صوتِ الجداولِ جارياتٍ في السّفوحْ

43) Listen to the voice of river flowing in the mountain foot.

واستنشقي الأزهارَ في الجنّاتِ ما دامت تفوحْ

44) And it takes smell of flowers of the golden as long as defuse fragrance.

و تمتّعي بالشّهبِ في الأفلاكِ ما دامتْ تلوحْ

45) And I enjoy the shouting stars in the sky as long as they flashed.

من قبلِ أن يأتيَ زمانٌ كالضّبابِ أو الدّخانْ

46) Before the times come like the mist or smoke.

لا تبصرينَ به الغديرْ

47) it can't see the pound of murmuring of water gives you pleasure.

و لا يلذّ لك الخريرْ

لتكن حياتك كلّها أملا جميلا طيّبا

49) May your life be full of beautiful hope and good.

و لتملإ الأحلام نفسك في الكهولة و الصّبى

50) Let the dreams of old age and youth fill in your heart.

مثل الكواكب في السماء و كالأزاهر في الرّبى

51) Just like the stars in the sky and flowers in the hillock.

ليكن بأمر الحبّ قلبك عالما في ذاته

52) Let your heart, it feels me full of love.

أزهاره لا تذبلْ

53) It flowering does not fade. 

و نجومه لا تأفلْ

54) It star do not pass away.

ماتَ النهارُ ابن الصباحِ فلا تقولي كيف ماتْ

55) The day the son of the morning died, so you don't say how it is dead.

إنّ التأمّل في الحياةِ يزيدُ أوجاعَ الحياةْ 

56) Meditation in life increases the pain of life.

فدعي الكآبة والأسى واسترجعي مرحَ الفتاةْ 

57) So! you avoid the sadness and despired, and listen to the music of mind.

قد كان وجهك في الضّحى مثل الضّحى مُتهلّلا 

58) Your face was in the morning as it is cheering up.

فيه البشاشةُ والبهاءْ 

59) There is happiness and brightness.

ليكن كذلكَ في المساءْ

60) So! Let be it in the evening.
